Tripadvisor noted on Tuesday that it reached the 1 billion reviews and opinions milestone in January.
Tripadvisor was founded 22 years ago by current President and CEO Steven Kaufer, Langley Steinert, Nick Shanni and Tom Palka. The company said the milestone came after announcing that it had amassed half a billion reviews and opinions in 2017.

Luxor scored 48 268 reviews on Tripadvisor with an average rating of 3.5 stars out of 5, which the site describes as “Very Good”. This hotel is ranked 158 out of 290 hotels in Las Vegas. Users rate it 4 out of 5 stars for location, cleanliness and service, but 3.5 out of 5 for “value”.
Most reviews give Luxor 5 stars (“Excellent”) or 4 stars (“Very Good”): 14,277 and 14,333 respectively. Approximately 9,847 users rated it 3 stars (“Average”), then 4,997 users rated it 2 stars (“Poor”) and 4,830 users rated it one star (“Terrible”).
The best review as of Tuesday morning was written by a visitor from Sacramento, California who gave the Luxor 5 stars overall with the comment:
“The view was so good that the check-in was not cool, the mobile app ended, everything was pretty good. money well spent, we parked all over the place, it was good so we didn't drive for hours, Luxor was a great choice.”
The second 5 star review titled Escape the Pyramid contained a long treatise which said:
“The room was CLEAN, spacious and with modern decor. It didn't have a fridge or microwave, only the suites have them. I wish I knew this ahead of time, but always be prepared. The front desk staff were VERY nice. Ask Cleo! She offered great restaurant options, 3 in order of price range.”
Two 5-star cars were followed by a pair of 1-star jalopies. The first one said:
“Everything in the room was broken. Nothing seemed to work properly. We waited 5 hours for the TV to be fixed. The air conditioner/heater was broken so we had a very cold weekend. The room is very outdated. There were extension cords in the room, which I had never seen before, not even in Circus Circus. Wow.”
A business traveler said in his 1-star review:
“Staying in Luxor, I was honestly upset, I had to score it. We got to our room and there was someone's clothes there, there were also stains all over the pillow, we asked for something to be done and it took them a while, I called the front desk and they just called to check that they sheets will come to change.”
