Danville City Council approved the zoning change for the new Caesars Casino in Virginia.
A new $ 400 million casino will be developed on the site of the former Dan River Mills building, which will be demolished to make way for new development.
Caesars expects the project to be completed by 2023 and will create 1,300 full-time jobs and another 900 during construction.
The site will house several restaurants and bars, a four-star hotel with 300 rooms, a concert hall with 2,500 seats, and a 35,000 conference center square feet, pool and spa.
The gaming room will house 2,000 slot machines, 75 table games, 16 poker tables and a bookmaker.
